CAPAC - Conservatives Arise

Bob Crumley, Candidate for Attorney General, Comes to Greenville

Bob Crumley, Republican candidate for North Carolina Attorney General, says he wants to take politics out of that office.  Speaking to Conservatives, Arise! Political Action Committee (CAPAC) at the Riverside Steak Bar in Greenville, Crumley said he intends to send the present Attorney General Roy Cooper home to private practice.

Identifying with Edmond Burke’s definition of a conservative,  “ A conservative has a penchant to preserve and the ability to improve,” Crumley said that, although there is a need to maintain ideas and ideals that have important value, Republicans have said, “No” too much and thus have been “mired in mud”, a situation that can lead to revolution." North Carolina needs a leader that can stand back, watch, look, then go in and fix the problem.  Crumley believes he is the man for the job.

At this time he is unopposed in the 2008 primary race.  Criticizing current Attorney General Roy Cooper, Democrat, he said that Cooper had been feeding from the public trough since graduating from law school and has never had a real job.  He has been “born and bred in politics”.

In contrast, Crumley’s humble background started in Appalachia and he graduated from Appalachian State University.  He then received a law degree from Wake Forest University.  Growing up he learned traditional family values and the importance of hard work from his parents.  As a result of acquiring a strong work ethic he built a successful law firm  from one employee to 135.  As a lawyer of 25 years experience he tried civil, criminal and appellate court cases.

Crumley said,  “Change is necessary in policies and procedures in order to fix problems. I intend to make changes.  The problem in the Attorney General’s office now is inattention, or having an attorney general who does not want the job.”

Attorney general responsibilities deal with regulations and criminal cases.  Crumley believes that  ideas and ideals are attacked by regulations.  As Attorney General he has plans for dealing with corruption.  He wants to turn the SBI crime lab upside down to get to the bottom of state government wheeling and dealing; and, if he must, he would "camp on Marc Basnight’s front door step in order to accomplish that goal."

At the conclusion of his speech he opened the floor for questions.

On illegal immigration:  Answer:   “What part of illegal don’t we understand?”  He is pro-legal immigration and against illegal aliens although he admitted that there is little that the Attorney General’s office can do since immigration is a federal issue.

On Family:  Answer:  When our laws help to destroy the underpinning of society, the solution is a taxing policy that makes it easy for families to stay together.

On Abortion:  Answer:  "I am pro-life.  However, it is also very important to protect children, who are already here, from predators."

His brochure lists his distinguished service to government and community. Bob Crumley is married and lives with his wife and two daughters in Asheboro.
