Down East Republicans Welcome Robert Hunter & Delma Blinson at Cliff’s Seafood in Chocowinity
The Down East Republican Club will be welcoming Robert Hunter, candidate for NC Court of Appeals and Delma Blinson as the guest speakers at the Thursday, July 31 meeting at Cliff’s Seafood in Chocowinity. All state and local candidates are welcome to attend and speak. We will have seafood in place of Italian food this month.

Republican Robert (Bob) Hunter is opposing incumbent Judge Robert Arrowood for the NC Court of Appeals Arrowood seat. Bob is not to be confused with Democrat Robert Hunter from Charlotte who already sits on the court of Appeals.
Robert Hunter is a graduate of the University of Chapel Hill Law School. Bob is a certified mediator and district court arbitrator for the State of North Carolina. Bob served as chairman of the NC Board of Elections from 1985-1989. Bob is married to Susan Awbrey Hunter. Between them, they have three children, and one grandson, all of whom live in North Carolina. |
Delma Blinson is an experienced educator and businessman. Delma has experience as a Teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal at Garner Senior High School in Wake County. Blinson served as Superintendent of Greenville City Schools and ECU Department of Educational leadership as a faculty member. As director of the Rural Education Institute, he worked with forty-one counties/school systems in Eastern North Carolina for thirteen years...in Leadership Development, Organizational Effectiveness and Strategic Planning. Delma led school reorganization projects, in 14 city/county school systems (including Beaufort/Washington) resulting in more mergers than any other organization.
Blinson’s presentation is “Beaufort County's Greatest Challenge...Improving our Public Education System.” A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
The meeting is open to the public. All citizens invited and welcome to attend. This meeting takes place at Cliff’s Seafood on Highway 17 in Chocowinity. The meeting will be in the large party room. Dinner may be ordered from the menu at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting starts at 6:45 p.m. Contact Al Klemm at 944-5068 for information.

Club Information
The Down East Republican Club welcomes all Republicans, soon to be Republicans and Independents as members. The mission of the club is to provide informative and entertaining meetings that focus on promoting Republican candidates, local issues and national issues of local interest and importance. Generally our meetings are open to the public. Guests are allowed to attend two meetings during a calendar year before joining the club.
Membership in the Down East Republican Club is $15.00 per person per year. Regularly scheduled Club meetings are the 4th Thursday of each month. Periodically, we schedule special meetings at different locations. These meetings will be posted on the Down East Web site, in the Washington Daily News and Greenville Reflector. We also contact members by Email or regular mail to inform members of upcoming events.
